Stump speaking at Galivants Ferry is a 140 year old tradition in South Carolina, hosted every other year since 1876 by the John Monroe and Joseph Holliday families. It will take place in the parking lot of Pee Dee Farms, where Rt. 501 crosses the Pee Dee River. Democratic candidates for local, state and federal office will “stump” for votes and mingle with the crowd.
The keynote speaker will be New York Congressman Joseph Crowley, vice chair of the Democratic Caucus, the fifth-highest ranking position in House Democratic Leadership. Other guests scheduled to attend include S.C. Congressman Jim Clyburn, S.C. Democratic Party chair Jaime Harrison, former MSNBC contributor and Decode DC Podcast host Jimmy Williams, master of ceremonies Tommy Brittain and Horry County Democratic Party chairman Bennie Swans.
Bluegrass music at 4:30 pm; speaking at 6:00 pm. Chicken bog and beverages will be sale. There is a free shuttle service to/from parking lots.
