Horry Dems Generating Local TV Coverage
Horry Democrats have been making plenty of news for local TV lately!
On Saturday, Feb. 11, the newly-organized chapter of Young Democrats of SC/Horry County held their first meeting with special guests from the Grand Strand Islamic Center who spoke about their concerns with the new immigration travel ban. Jennifer Cangeme, chair of the YDSC Waccamaw Region, and a Clyburn Political Fellow, organized this initial meeting.

On Thursday, Feb. 9, the South Enders Democratic Club hosted special guest Shaundra Scott, Executive Director of the ACLU of South Carolina. Ms. Scott described the ACLU goals to protect equality, liberty and justice by court actions and legislation monitoring.
Earlier on Thursday, HCDP Chair Bennie Swans and South Enders activist Darralyn Alexander appeared on HTC Channel 4 “Rivertalk” to discuss the benefits of the Affordable Care Act for residents of Horry County and South Carolina. (This video is 22 minutes.)
On January 29, the HCDP Gun Sense Committee gathered outside the annual Gun Show at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. HCDP Chair Bennie Swans and other committee members spoke to the press about the need for SC state legislators to pass legislation to close the so-called “Charleston Loophole” which allows sales of weapons before a background check is completed.
