June – LGBTQ Pride Month
Jun 2 (Friday) – Grand Strand PRIDE at Chapin Park, 4 to 8 pm. Join us for an evening of celebration, community, and love. This free event is open to all and promises to be an unforgettable experience. This year’s entertainment includes Pride Sounds by DJ Trevor D. Event is rain or shine.
Jun 2-4 (Friday-Sunday) – National Gun Violence Awareness Day/Wear Orange Weekend. HCDP Gun Sense Action Committee requests all Horry County residents to participate in the Display/Wear Orange campaign to help raise gun violence awareness. Be sure to include orange as part of your clothing, on your pets, mailboxes, houses or property.
Jun 2 (Friday) – Stop Gun Violence Rally at the Myrtle Beach Skywheel, 8:00 pm, sponsored by the Grand Strand Chapter of Moms Demand Action.
Jun 3 (Saturday) – Moms Demand Action Event, Cedar Branch Community Center, Loris, 12 noon to 3:00 pm.
Jun 4 (Sunday) – Moms Demand Action Event at Myrtle Place on Joe White Ave, Myrtle Beach, 3:00 – 5:00 pm.
Jun 4 (Sunday) – HCDP Gun Sense Action Committee at Galivants Ferry,3:00pm – 5:00pm. Meet at the old gas station area, park in back. Wear your yellow Gun Sense Tee or purchase one at event. Bring your own sign or use one of ours.

Guest Speakers: CCU Sociologists Sara Brallier, Ph.D., and Stephanie Southworth, Ph.D., share their study of policy changes at the local, state, and national levels that can be made to eradicate homelessness, and show that there must be a political will to shift the narrative from blaming the victim to supporting the common good.
