This is a special message for all voters in South Carolina. VP Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz are working tirelessly to transcend the extreme political polarization that has defined the most recent election cycles. Their engagements with moderate Republicans and Independents exemplify their shared commitment to addressing the needs of all Americans, and not just the Democratic base.
Donald Trump’s disastrous one-term presidency was characterized by extreme partisanship and mismanagement. Now he threatens to impose total authoritarian rule if elected — including his being empowered to imprison and even execute his domestic political enemies. Harris and Walz, in stark contrast to that insane level of “Christian Nationalism”, are carefully building a united pro-democracy front that will tackle issues collaboratively.
This approach is a perfect fit in our state, with its highly diverse population. We need to actively support leaders who are laser-focused on bridging gaps and fostering a more inclusive political climate.
