HCDP Supports Local Vets

Horry County Democratic Party was proud to present a check for $500 on July 23rd to Shane Hubbard from the Horry County Agency on Aging’s Veterans Independence Program (VIP). The check represents 10 percent of the profits from the Senator Dick Elliott Memorial Golf Outing held June 30 at Wild Wing’s Avocet Course in Conway.

In the photo (l-r) are HCDP Chairman Don Kohn, Hubbard, and Barbara Eisenhart, who chaired the golf outing committee.

“We are delighted to make this contribution to VIP and our local veterans,” said Kohn. “They have given so much to our country and VIP is a tremendous program that is dedicated to helping these brave and deserving men and women.” Hubbard said he hoped to use the money to help finance construction of a badly needed wheelchair ramp.

The Senator Dick Elliott Memorial Golf Outing was HCDP’s first-ever golf fundraising event. It was sold out, attracting 122 golfers who shared a terrific afternoon of golf and competed in a hole-in-one contest in hopes of winning a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette provided by Myrtle Beach Chevrolet Cadillac and made possible by Anderson Insurance, LLC.

Co-hosting the event with HCDP were Elliott Realty and Eagle Nest Golf Club.
