Horry County Democrats are committed to improving the lives of all people by promoting Democratic principles and values, recruiting and electing outstanding Democratic candidates, and dramatically broadening voter participation.
But as we work to achieve those objectives today, we need you to take action. Passive support for Democrats’ ideas or passionate hate of Trump doesn’t get the job done.
Please, don’t just sit on the sidelines. Our very democracy is at stake as Republicans continue to promote Trump’s Big Lie, oppose vaccinations, and try to suppress the right to vote. They push sexist, racist and misogynistic agendas, while supporting the corporations and the wealthy to the detriment of everyday people.
This is why HCDP is launching #RISEUP!, a new marketing campaign to reach, encourage and energize ALL Democrats and Independents and others who support our principles and values. Using social media, advertising, our e-newsletter and website, we intend to defend the work of our President and promote Democratic initiatives.
We intend to reach new Democrats and Independents who have moved to Horry County, as well as long-term residents who have stayed on the sidelines, letting them know the myth that Republicans are in total control and unbeatable is just that—a myth.

Please share these articles and postings with your friends and neighbors, including on social media, to help us spread the word.
Remember this:
- Republicans oppose a living wage for people who are hurting. Let them live on $7.25 an hour!
- Republicans refuse to enact sensible gun laws, seeking to turn South Carolina into the wild west of years gone by.
- Republicans want to play God with a woman’s reproductive rights, but then oppose providing food and nutrition once a child is born.
- Republicans refuse to expand Medicaid in South Carolina to help provide healthcare to those in need—even in the midst of a pandemic.
- Republicans are attempting to restrict voting rights by making it more difficult for many of our citizens to vote.
And so, they must be called out.
Voters must know that we Democrats are working on behalf of everyday South Carolinians.
It was President Biden and Democrats in Congress who provided badly needed financial pandemic relief without a single Republican vote.
It is President Biden and we Democrats who defend the right to vote, defend reproductive rights, support a living wage, and who support President Biden’s effort to bring this pandemic under control.
It is time for Democrats to take a stand, and to #RISEUP! to this challenge.
