Mobilizing Young Dems: On the ‘Brink of Change’

A new Horry County Young Democrats Club was organized June 13 at a meeting of activists in Conway, in affiliation with the South Carolina Young Democrats organization.

Elected chair was Stacie Pearman; first vice chair, Tiffany Gamble; second vice chair, Brandon Counts, and treasurer, Helen Bass.

Representatives of the state Young Dems group were on hand to help with the new Horry County club’s formation.

Pearman, a social worker, works with people with barriers, such as poverty or a disability. A member of the HCDP Communications Committee, Pearman was an early advocate of developing an initiative to reach out to young voters in Horry County.

“There is no feeling quite like the feeling of being on the brink of real change,” Pearman said. “I feel that right now and I am excited for the citizens of Horry County to learn about who we are as an organization and for us to be strong advocates within our community, our state and our country for the real needs of our neighbors.

“I look forward to the Young Democrats really partnering with our neighbors to take a stand and make life better for all of us”

The next meeting of the Horry County Young Democrats will be June 27. For more information, please contact Pearman at scrooks44@gmail.com.
