“Celebrations Delayed… Commitments Pledged” is the theme of Horry County Democratic Party’s major fundraising event for 2021, the ever-popular SHORE Dinner, scheduled for Friday, October 22, 2021 at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club, 9000 N. Ocean Blvd., in Myrtle Beach.
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this important and fun-filled event, which will generate funds desperately needed to support the ongoing and upcoming activities and services provided by HCDP. The 2020 SHORE Dinner, as well as our annual golf tournament, HCDP’s primary fundraising events, were cancelled in 2020 because of the Covid 19 pandemic. As a result, your help is needed now more than ever.
We originally planned the 2021 dinner for September 24, but our planning committee decided to delay the event until October 22 – once again, due to COVID-19, explained Barbara Hake, HCDP fundraising chair and chair of the SHORE Dinner Planning Committee.
“There will be an influx of people into the Myrtle Beach area for Labor Day and that creates an environment that places our community at risk,” Hake said. “Because our original date, Sept. 24, was only two and a half weeks after Labor Day, and prime time for a Delta variant spread, we have made this move to Oct. 22. Because WE CARE, this change was necessary.”
“Because WE CARE for our loyal Dem attendees, guests, speakers and those who prepare and serve our dinner and drinks, verification of your vaccinations is, respectfully, requested at the time you make your reservations to ensure the health and well-being of all,” she added.
“Because WE CARE for each other and the Party, we will celebrate our theme “Celebrations Delayed… Commitments Pledged”.
“We will finally, and joyously celebrate our November wins, the Inauguration and a woman of color as VP! And we further pledge our commitment to the promise of Rep. John Lewis to keep the sanctity of voting rights across this country, support DACA, LGBTQ+ and all the other causes for which we proudly stand.”
The event is still in the planning stages and the roster of guest speakers is still being developed, but we expect our Democratic candidates to be on hand and are working hard to land a great keynote speaker. So, stay tuned for that.
Meanwhile, the cost is $85 per person. Tickets will be on sale soon, but make your plans and mark your calendars now.
