Get Out The Vote!: Important Early Voting Information for the Upcoming Elections

As we approach the upcoming elections, it’s crucial for Horry County voters to understand their early voting options, particularly how to vote absentee. Eligible voters include those with physical disabilities, individuals 65 years or older, members of the Armed Forces and their families, emergency hospital patients, individuals with work obligations, caregivers attending to the sick or disabled, those confined in jail pending trial, and residents who will be out of county during voting periods.

To vote absentee, start by requesting an application from your county voter registration office by mail, phone, or in person, providing your name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security Number. Once you receive and complete your application, return it by the specified deadline. Absentee ballots will be mailed to voters who apply early, around 30 days before the election. After filling out your ballot, ensure to sign the voter’s oath, have it witnessed, and return it by mail or in person by 7:00 p.m. on election day.

For those who prefer to vote in person, early voting centers in Horry County are available from May 28 to June 7 for the Statewide Primaries, and from June 19 to June 21 for the Statewide Runoffs, excluding weekends and state holidays. Locations include the Horry County Board of Voter Registration & Elections, Carolina Forest Library, North Strand Recreation Center, and South Strand Recreation Center, all open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the early voting period. Remember to bring your Photo ID when voting at these centers. For more information, visit scVOTES.gov.
