2017 High School Essay Contest for $1,000 Prizes

The Democratic Women’s Council of Horry County (DWCHC) has announced that its 2017 Scholarship Essay Contest is now underway.

In 2017, two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to Horry County high school seniors for the best 1,000-1,500 word essay on the topic “Why Does Electing Democrats Matter to Me.”

This is the 11th year of the competition. Since 2007, DWCHC has awarded close to $30,000 in scholarships to college-bound Horry County students.

The Entry Form and Rules/Criteria are available for download at www.dwchc.com. The deadline for entries is March 31, 2017.

Winning essays are published each year in a booklet distributed by DWCHC across South Carolina. A copy of the 2016 booklet is also available at the DWCHC website.
