We’re excited to share that over 400 Horry County Democrats were in attendance, showing up strong for unity, fairness, and progress here in our county.
Tonight our officers were elected, shaping the future of our local party and ensuring every voice is represented.

🚨 Important Update for Horry County Democrats 🚨
October 2, 2025
The South Carolina Democratic Party’s State Executive Committee meeting on Saturday, August 23, granted an appeal regarding the Horry County Democratic Party’s 2025 county convention after concerns were raised that the original elections were not conducted in accordance with party rules. The State Party will provide oversight and set the date for a reconvened Horry County Democratic Party Convention.
This new convention will allow Horry County Democrats to hold new elections to choose leadership in a fair and transparent process. Our priority is ensuring that every Democrat in Horry County has confidence in their local party and that their voices are fully represented as we work together to build a stronger Democratic Party across South Carolina.
The following individuals have filed to run for offices in the Horry County Democratic Party and will be elected at the Horry County Democratic Convention on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025.

The South Carolina Democratic Party Executive Committee has called for a new Horry County Democratic Party Convention to elect county party officers.
All Democrats who are registered voters in Horry County are invited to attend and participate. This is your opportunity to connect with fellow Democrats and help shape the future of our party at the local and state level.

Message from Christale Spain, Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party:
The South Carolina Democratic Party Executive Committee is requiring the Horry County Democratic Party to hold a new county convention to elect county party officers.
The Horry County Convention will be on Tuesday, October 7 at 6:30 pm at the Conway High School Auditorium in Conway.
Last March, Horry County Democrats held a Convention but didn’t properly elect county party officers. As a party that fights for free and fair elections, it’s important for us to do the same with the elections within our own party.
Any Democrat who is registered to vote in Horry County may attend and vote at the County Convention. Attending your county convention is the best way to engage with fellow Democrats and shape the future of our party.
During the convention you will elect the following County Party officers to serve until the County Convention in March 2026:
• County Chair
• First Vice Chair
• Second Vice Chair
• Third Vice Chair
• Two Members of the State Executive Committee (must be different genders)
• Two Alternate Members of the State Executive Committee (must be different genders)
Filing for those offices will open on September 18 and will close on October 2. Filing information will be emailed on September 18.

The South Carolina Democratic Party has granted an appeal regarding the 2025 Horry County Democratic Party Convention. A new convention will be held to ensure elections are conducted fairly and transparently under party rules.
📌 The State Party will oversee and announce the new date soon.
This is an important step to make sure every Democrat in Horry County has confidence in their leadership and that all voices are represented. Together, we are building a stronger Democratic Party across South Carolina.
