Christine Carr Honored for Gun Sense Activism

The HCDP Gun Sense Committee and HCDP officers and members were on hand Jan. 21 to see Christine Carr, a founding member of the Committee, be honored at the 2019 Martin Luther King Day celebration breakfast.

Christine received the Drum Major for Civic Activism Award for her tireless work in addressing gun violence and voting rights, among many other causes.

“We’re proud of Christine and all members of the Gun Sense Committee and are grateful for their dedication and service to our community,” said Don Kohn, HCDP chair.

Members of the Committee, led by Committee Chair David Higham, participated in the MLK Day Parade following the breakfast to promote the goal of enacting sensible legislation closing loopholes that allow dangerous individuals to obtain firearms without appropriate background checks.
