Announcing! HCDP’s 2017 Annual SHORE Dinner

On Saturday, September 23, 2017, Horry County Democratic Party’s annual SHORE Dinner will be held at St. John’s Inn, Caravelle Resort, 6803 N. Ocean Blvd., Myrtle Beach. A reception will begin at 6:00 p.m., with dinner to follow at 7:00 p.m. The occasion marks Horry County Dem’s most important and successful fundraiser, as well as an opportunity to meet and greet Democrats from across the largest county in SC.

This year’s keynote speaker, ticketing, and sponsorship information will be announced soon. Past speakers have included Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, SC Representative Gilda Cobb-Hunter, former SC Representative Bakari Sellers (now with CNN), U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver, and SC Representative Mandy Powers Norrell.

The dinner name SHORE is a playful reminder of our seaside location, and an acronym that honors local and national Democratic leaders, past and present.

Helen P. Sasser (1935-2014, two-time candidate for the SC House); Rupert Hickman (1938-2016, loyal and energetic local Democrat); Barack Obama (our nation’s first African-American president); the Robinson family (Michelle Obama’s Georgetown County relatives with whom many Horry County Dems share Gullah-Geechee roots); and Senator Dick Elliott (1935-2014, longest serving Democratic State Senator in SC).

With the 2018 mid-term elections on the horizon, let’s get together on September 23rd to show our Democratic determination, spirit, and hopefulness for the future of South Carolina and the nation.
