Horry County Democrats may not be the world’s best bowlers, but we sure do know how to have fun. That was the case at our first ever Bowling Fundraiser May 6 at Myrtle Beach Bowl.
While there were more gutter balls than strikes, there were a lot of laughs and a few bucks were added to HCDP’s campaign coffers.
“The games we played were fun! I even got a strike with my eyes closed,” said Cathy Tourloukis, who organized the event. Cathy is one of HCDP’s most active volunteers and serves on the HCDP Communications Committee.
“The bowling event was lots of fun,” agreed Nancy Anderson, HCDP resolutions chair and volunteer coordinator. “We laughed at each other’s gutter balls and cheered each other’s strikes. Let’s do this again!”
We will do it again, promised Tourloukis.
“We’ll definitely have another bowling outing. I’m thinking probably in winter, different time and day… after the SHORE dinner. I was given all positive feedback. Everyone seemed to very much enjoy themselves.”
It was especially good to be able to take a break from all the political stress and strain that seems to be so prevalent these days, noted HCDP Chair Don Kohn.
“It was a good chance to get away from the Trumpian craziness that constantly surrounds us,” he said. “We were all able to laugh at ourselves.”
