HCDP Leaders to Hold Conway Press Conference September 5

Announcing Effort To Turn South Carolina Blue At Upcoming Shore Dinner Gala

Conway, SC, September 1 – The first announced Democratic candidate for President in 2020, Maryland Congressman John Delaney, will help launch the Horry County Democratic Party (HCDP) effort to turn South Carolina blue at its upcoming annual SHORE dinner.

HCDP leaders will be available at a press conference on Tuesday, September 5, at 1 p.m. in the Conway headquarters, 909 Norman Alley, to talk about plans for HCDP over the next year and the SHORE dinner program.

The sixth annual SHORE dinner will be held on Saturday, September 23, at the Caravelle Resort’s St. John’s Inn (6803 N. Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach) beginning with a 5:30 p.m. press availability for Congressman Delaney, a 6:00 p.m. reception and 7:00 p.m.dinner, followed by Congressman Delaney’s keynote speech.

“Unity is the key to victory,” said HCDP chair Bennie Swans, and “as one of the most bipartisan members of the Congress named by GovTrack, we  are proud to have the Congressman address us.”  In addition, we can draw on his remarkable experience working with people and promoting programs at all social and economic levels, Mr Swans said.

Congressman Delaney has a wide-ranging background from growing up in a blue-collar union household in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey to founding two publicly-traded companies. He is the only former CEO of a publicly-traded company in the House. For his work on innovative legislation that uses revenues from international tax reform to rebuild America’s infrastructure, Congressman Delaney was named one of the “World’s Greatest Leaders” by Fortune Magazine in 2017.

In Congress, Representative Delaney has authored legislation to create a carbon tax, establish access to pre-K nationwide, end gerrymandering, and protect veteran’s credit scores.
