Horry County ACA Enrollment Awareness Day Nov. 1

The Horry County Democratic Party will observe “ACA Enrollment Awareness Day” on Wednesday, November 1, when the signup period for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) opens.

To launch ACA Enrollment Awareness Day, a brown bag Q & A session will be held Wednesday, November 1 at the Horry County Democratic Party office, 909 Norman Alley in Conway, from noon to 1:30pm.

The ACA was established as a keystone achievement by the Obama Administration to extend health insurance opportunities to people throughout the nation, but actions by the current administration appear designed to limit the ability of our citizens to obtain or change coverage.

Now, having failed in their efforts to repeal and replace the ACA, the Trump Administration is doing everything possible to sabotage it, including making it extremely difficult for citizens to even sign up during the upcoming registration period, which ends Dec. 15.

The Administration has shortened the Marketplace enrollment window by half and the budget for program outreach has been slashed. So there is no time to waste and it is essential to let our citizens know that their opportunity to register for coverage is NOW.

To sign up visit healthcare.gov. Sunday website operation may be limited – apparently deliberately.

At the Wednesday kickoff brown bag lunch, citizens are invited to join Celeste Bondurant-Bell, Director of Community Development at the Little River Medical Center, to learn more about health insurance and healthcare in Horry County. Celeste may be accompanied by a certified application counselor.

Little River Medical Center offers free assistance with marketplace enrollment. To schedule an appointment with a certified application counselor, please call:

Little River: (843)663-8261

Myrtle Beach: (843)663-8270

In addition, Healthcare Partners of SC, with locations in Conway, Johnsonville and Marion, provides health insurance counseling by appointment. Call Tannesha Clements at (843)340-0979.

Do not delay – enroll early – remember, the enrollment period begins November 1 and ends December 15. Health insurance is protection for you and your family.
