District 7 Democratic Primary Set For Tuesday, May 17

The District 7 Primary takes place next week on Tuesday, May 17. Polls will be open 7 am – 7 pm.

Three local Democrats are vying for this Horry County Council seat held for 35 years by James Frazier, who retired on March 1.  The special election will be held Tuesday, July 5.

Harold Phillips is a member of the Horry County Planning Commission, and has served on the advisory committee to the Horry County Airport. He is an Air Force veteran and has owned and operated Phillips Electrical Service in Conway for many years.  For information: psquare5@sccoast.net

Orton Bellamy served for 21 years with the U.S. Army, earning a master’s degree in public administration from American Military University. He recently retired from the S.C. Probation, Parole and Pardon Board.  Originally from North Myrtle Beach, he resides in Conway. For information: ob1@sc.rr.com

Lee Sherman is also a military veteran and has been a prominent community activist in the Bucksport area for many years. For information: leedot16@gmail.com

District 7 includes these precincts: Adrian (partial); East Conway; Four Mile (partial); Homewood (partial); Inland; Jamestown; Maple (partial); North Conway #1; North Conway #2; Pawleys Swamp (partial); Port Harrelson; Racepath #1; Racepath #2; Red Hill #1; Salem (partial); Toddville; West Conway; Wild Wing (partial).
