Horry County Democratic Party Welcomes Rev. Michael Allen McClain as Keynote Speaker for 2024 SHORE Dinner

The Horry County Democratic Party (HCDP) is proud to announce Reverend Michael Allen McClain as the keynote speaker for the 2024 SHORE Dinner, themed “United to Save Democracy.” Rev. McClain, who serves as the National Director for African American Faith Engagement for the Harris-Walz Presidential Campaign, will address attendees at this prestigious event, scheduled for Sunday, October 13, 2024, at The Asher Theatre and Conference Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.

United to Save Democracy

Rev. McClain brings decades of experience as a faith leader, environmental justice advocate, and campaign strategist. His work on behalf of the Harris-Walz campaign and his commitment to social and climate justice make him a highly anticipated speaker for this year’s SHORE Dinner. McClain has spent his career mobilizing faith communities and addressing the critical intersection of faith, justice, and public policy. His role as a national advocate for African American faith engagement positions him as a vital voice for democratic values in South Carolina and beyond.

The HCDP SHORE Dinner is a major annual fundraiser that supports the party’s efforts to promote democratic ideals and organize grassroots movements across Horry County. This year’s event is expected to bring together prominent leaders, activists, and local Democrats under the theme of unity and the urgent need to safeguard democracy.

The event will be held at The Asher Theatre and Conference Center, 3237 Waccamaw Boulevard, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579. The evening will begin with a reception at 2:00 PM, followed by dinner at 3:00 PM.

We encourage all to join us for an inspiring evening with Rev. McClain and to support our collective mission to advance progressive policies in South Carolina.

The SHORE Dinner is not just a meal; it’s a celebration of our shared values and a tribute to the individuals and families who embody the spirit of the Democratic Party in Horry County. The SHORE name represents the following:

S for Helen P. Sasser (1935-2014), a lifelong Democrat and candidate for the South Carolina House of Representatives.
H for Rupert Hickman, a dedicated history teacher and lifelong Democrat who has served the Party faithfully.
O for Barack Obama, our nation’s first African-American president, whose campaign and presidency continue to inspire.
R for the Robinson Family, Michelle Obama’s ancestors from Georgetown County, connected to many Horry County Democrats.
E for Senator Dick Elliott (1935-2014), the longest-serving Democratic State Senator in South Carolina, representing Horry County for over 30 years.

This year’s event is set to build on the legacy of past SHORE Dinners, where speakers like Rep. Bakari Sellers and U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver have inspired attendees. The 2024 keynote speaker will be announced soon, and we are confident that this year’s address will be just as impactful.
